Most big dental meetings cover everything. The AACD Scientific Session is built around one subject: esthetic and restorative dentistry, the work behind veneers, bonding, crowns and smile design. The 2027 meeting runs March 31 to April 3, 2027, at the Signia by Hilton Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida, a short drive from Miami.

Who runs it

The meeting is organized by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, a professional organization devoted to cosmetic dentistry. According to the conference site, attendees must be AACD members to register. That makes it smaller and more specialized than the giant regional shows, and more of a working conference for people already invested in cosmetic dentistry.

What is on the program

The AACD describes general sessions designed to expand clinical expertise, open lectures, and hands-on workshops, which are limited and require registration. Its 2027 materials highlight education across esthetics, restorative workflows, digital innovation and practice growth.

There is also an exhibitor floor that the academy describes as showcasing the latest innovations in dental technology, materials and services. For a cosmetic meeting, that typically means the things that shape how a smile is designed and made: ceramics and composites, shade-matching and photography, digital design software, scanners and the lab workflows that connect the dentist to the ceramist.

Why it matters to someone considering veneers

Cosmetic dentistry is not a separate dental specialty. Any licensed dentist can offer veneers. That is exactly why focused education matters. A meeting like this is where dentists who want to do cosmetic work well study proportion, color, translucency, gum health and the details that separate a natural result from an obvious one.

Attending a meeting does not prove skill, and membership is not the same as a credential earned through examination. So ask specific questions:

  • How much of your practice is cosmetic work like mine?
  • What cosmetic training have you completed recently?
  • Can I see before-and-after photos of your own cases, similar to mine?
  • Will I see a preview or trial of my new smile before anything is final?

A confident cosmetic dentist welcomes those questions. The answers will tell you more than any logo on the wall.
