The Florida Dental Convention is the Florida Dental Association's annual meeting, the state's main gathering for dentists and their teams. The next edition runs June 24 to 26, 2027, at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, in the Orlando area. The association has already listed future June dates at the same venue through 2031.

Who runs it

The convention is run by the Florida Dental Association through its Committee on Conventions and Continuing Education. That makes it different from a commercial trade show. It is organized by the professional association for Florida dentists, with education built around what dentists in the state need, including hours that count toward license renewal.

What happens there

The association describes three days of education and buying opportunities for the entire dental team. For 2027 it advertises more than 150 continuing education courses for dental professionals and more than 20 CE hours available for licensure. Florida dentists, like dentists in every state, must complete continuing education to keep their licenses, and a meeting like this is one efficient way to do it.

The exhibit hall is large. The association lists more than 350 vendors showcasing the latest tech and trends. It does not name specific products, but halls like this are where Florida dentists typically compare scanners, imaging, 3D printing, restorative materials and practice software, and where labs and manufacturers meet the dentists who buy from them. The organizers also lean into the social side, describing the event as not your average dental meeting.

Why Miami patients should care

If you see a dentist in Florida, there is a good chance they have walked this floor or taken a course here. That makes it a useful lens on what is changing in local practices. When a new scanner, material or digital design tool shows up in your dentist's office, it often arrived by way of meetings like this one.

Continuing education is a requirement, not a distinction, so the useful question is not whether your dentist took courses. It is which ones. Ask what they have studied recently that relates to your treatment, how it changed the way they work, and how they decide when a new tool is ready for patients. Specific answers are a good sign.
